How Gevilens works

Updated 11/01/2026

Before you buy online, ask us: we look for the best price with shipping, show you the reviews and alert you when it drops.

1. Where products and prices come from

Our AI never makes up prices: it only picks among real offers and explains why. When the store allows it, we check the price of recommended offers in the store before showing them; you will see “✔ Price verified” when we did. Otherwise each offer shows when its price was last updated.

2. How we rank and pick offers

Our main criteria, in order of importance:

  1. It is the product you asked for (we drop accessories, spare parts and different models).
  2. Total price with shipping, not just the listed price.
  3. Ratings: the score and how many reviews it has.
  4. Store reliability when prices are similar.
  5. Your budget and requirements.

We usually show the cheapest option, the best rated and a balanced pick. When offers are otherwise equal, we may show a store we have an affiliate agreement with first, but never ahead of an option that is clearly better for you. No store pays to appear in the results; if we ever show sponsored results, they will be labeled “Sponsored”.

3. How we make money

Some links are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking through to a store, that store may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra and the price is the same.

Because of Amazon’s rules, we sometimes show “See price at Amazon” instead of the price, so you always see the exact price on their site.

4. Wrong price?

Prices change quickly. If you see a different price in the store, press “Wrong price?” on the offer: we check it right away and fix it. The valid price is always the one the store shows you at checkout.

5. Our crawler (GevilensBot) · information for stores

To check prices we use a crawler that identifies itself as GevilensBot. It does two things: it checks the price and availability of specific offers someone is looking at, and it reads the public catalog of some stores (their Shopify products.json, the public WooCommerce API or their sitemap) so their products show up in comparisons. It only keeps the name, brand, barcode, price, shipping, availability, the product page link and the image link: it does not copy descriptions or photos.

It goes slowly (several seconds between requests to the same store and a daily cap), respects robots.txt and its Crawl-delay, and stops if the store asks for verification or blocks it: it never tries to get around a CAPTCHA or a login.

If you run a store and do not want us to check it, add this to your robots.txt:

User-agent: GevilensBot
Disallow: /

FAQ

What is Gevilens?

Gevilens is an AI shopping assistant. Tell it what you want to buy and it compares the total price with shipping across the stores and marketplaces it is connected to, shows you the reviews and alerts you when the price drops.

Is it free?

Yes. You get 5 free searches a day without an account and 30 with a free account. We earn affiliate commissions from stores when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you.

Where do the prices come from?

From official sources: product feeds that stores share through affiliate networks and marketplace APIs such as eBay's. Our AI never makes up prices: it only picks among real offers. Each offer shows when its price was last updated or verified.

How do price alerts work?

Press “Alert” on a product, enter the price you want to pay and your email. We check the price every day, email you when it drops below your target and send you a weekly summary. You can unsubscribe with one click.

Do you buy the product for me?

No. We take you straight to the store's product page or cart and you pay on their site. We never ask for your payment details.
